I make interactive Power Points for my IB and MYP science classes. This PPT is for my MYP years 4 and 5 chemistry class. The PPTs are designed to be full of images and a little more interesting to look at than just reading a book. For me I use the PPTs for my lectures and direct instructions/teaching. However, I have built the PPTs to have set points of "breaks". These breaks have data-based questions, ATL Skills, discussions and more. You will clearly see these slides in the PPT and can use them to your discretion. I usually have the students answer these slides in their chemistry notebook or on separate sheet of paper for graded assignments.
Additionally, in my class I use the book MYP Chemistry: A concept-based approach by Gary Horner and Oxford Publishing. Sometimes I reference specific book numbers in my slides (usually only "break" slides such as data-based questions) so feel free to just omit those if you don't want to use them!
However, I have built the PPT from a variety of chemistry materials and have chosen topics I feel are important and required by the IB system. Therefore, what ever book or materials you are using, my PPT should be applicable for your classroom!
This particular PPT covers: consequences of human actions, acids, bases, pH, pH scales, neutralization reactions and a little bit about ions. Additionally, this PPT has numerous animations I recommend going through the PPT before presenting it to understand how the animations work!
