Description
This bundle includes everything you need for a fun and engaging unit on measurement using the metric system. Throughout the unit students are exposed to various scientific tools in order to learn, use, and understand the metric system. The various activities in this bundle include both independent and collaborative work for students to explore and demonstrate learning.
Students start the unit with an inquiry activity to assess prior knowledge and misconceptions. Students are encouraged to change their original thinking after they take notes. The PowerPoint presentation is accompanied with a guided note sheet that is color-coded to make the note-taking process easier for students while they are learning about the metric system and various scientific tools. Each activity in the bundle focuses on different types of measurement that include length, mass, and volume as the main focus. Labs and practice activities provide students the opportunity to understand how to measure with given experiments they actually carry-out themselves. The bundle includes multiple activities that can be used as either warm-ups, class work, or homework. In addition to the activities there are three different assessments that use the MYP Next Chapter Science Criteria A and C rubrics. To make MYP transparent in your classroom there are printable signs that can be hung during the duration of the unit to remind students of the key, related, global context, and state of inquiry and can serve as a great reference while teaching or classroom discussion is taking place.
This bundle includes:
--MYP Language for bulletin board display (key, related, global context, statement of inquiry)
--Teacher Directions
--Inquiry Activity
--Measurement Hook/Springboard Activity
--PowerPoint Note Presentation
--Guided Note Template
