In this assignment, students are to select one of the important scenes we have discussed in class and interpret its significance and how it ties to the overall theme of the play. Students are given several scenes from which to choose. In this assignment, students are to write a theme statement and illustrate the theme in addition to a short writing assignment. I generally assign this assignment as a multi-day homework assignment and check the students' progress along the way. I count this assignment as a quiz/project grade since this requires more thought than basic understanding of the play.
