The “Construct an Adventure Camp” Maker Task challenges students to dream of ways that an outdoor setting can be used to build community, increase fitness levels, and develop skill in meeting the challenges of nature. Students are asked to plan and construct a model of an activity that would benefit campers in an adventure camp setting. All aspects of STEAM should be used in the planning and building of each adventure camp model.
Why an Adventure Camp? As a society, we spend far too much time indoors, staring at computer screens and TVs. Any season is perfect for thinking about the adventures we might have outdoors, and perfect for planning some of those adventures. Invite your students’ families to view the models when thay are completed, and your display just might inspire some of them to plan a vacation (or even a backyard staycation!) which includes more outdoor activity.
Each Maker Task will include:
Teacher Notes
an invitation to the Task, including details of how to proceed
a suggested list of supplies unique to the Task and letters to ask for donations
a STEAM (STEM) Journal customized for that particular task
a simpler verson of the STEAM (STEM) Journal for differentiation
All student pages are in grayscale.
