Description
Early elementary students need to be fluent in adding and subtracting within ten to build a strong foundation for future mathematical thinking. This product includes three activities and three word problems to help students practice making different combinations of ten. The activities can be used whole group, small group, or as workstations/centers.
The activities include:
*How Many Ways?
Students practice finding the different combinations of ten. A student worksheet for kindergarten and a different one for first grade are included.
*Make 10 Memory Game
Students play a game that match two numbers which equal ten. There are number cards and cards with dots for students that do not recognize all their numbers yet. This also allows for the game to be played using a combination of the number and dot cards.
*Numbers, Objects, and Bags Oh My!
Students have one number and must find the second number that we will equal ten. This activity is also differentiated. One version of the student worksheet has a ten frame and the second version does not.
The three word problems include:
*Add to Result Unknown
*Add to Change Unknown
*Add to Start Unknown
Having multiple number choices included allows differentiation of the word problems. Also, a version is included that does not have number choices, so the teacher can choose the numbers for each problem.
Everything is aligned to the Common Core State Standards in grades kindergarten and first.
