Description

Making Inferences Task Cards 4 (Differentiated) is differentiated with two levels of the same texts. It has mixed genres all focused on one critical reading skill: Using text evidence to make inferences.

Who's This Inferencing Set For?

It's perfect for 3rd or 4th-grade teachers who need a challenging task card set and an advanced set for above level readers!

It's just right for 5th-grade students.

It's perfect for 6th and 7th-grade teachers who need an intervention set and an on-level basic review.

The question stems are built around STAAR released questions and aligned to the new 2018 TEKS and CCSS.

Reading Levels / Text Complexity

Lower Leveled Set: 3.0-4.5

Higher Leveled Set: 4.0-6.0

*Based on word frequency, sentence length, vocabulary, and measures of ATOS and Lexile estimates.

Making Inferences Task Cards #4 include literary and informational texts. Students will read fictional stories (trip to beach, going to gymnastics, trip to salon) and four expository paragraphs that connect social studies and science (financial literacy & the water cycle).

Scaffolding is embedded in open-ended questions that require help students analyze the details and make connections between what they already know and the text evidence.

The multiple-choice questions are high-level inferencing. The questions progress in complexity from task card 1 to 12.
