Description

This will compliment your Language Arts Unit, as it is an introductory lesson to inferring.

This activity begins with wordless picture books (online access), teaching the idea of reading as more than just saying the words.

The first page models this, with a video which includes sound effects to enhance the reader's understanding.  An example using the inferring chart is given for students to review.  The second page gives another wordless picture book with instructions for students to read (through viewing carefully) and then fill in the inferring chart.

Great for:

  • Literacy Centres or Stations
  • Distance Learning
  • Digital activities in class for social distancing avoiding the collection of physical papers
  • Independent Practice
  • Homework

I liked the resource but I was hoping to use the template with a different wordless picture book than the one illustrated. I could not change the template, and I ended up creating my own slides.

This resource was perfect for helping my students grasp an understanding of the concept. I especially appreciated that the resource included both guided practice and an independent practice.
