This week's freebie features pages from my larger Sentence Building Kit. It is used as a center or daily morning work.

I asked fellow teachers what they'd love for new students to have mastered, and they all said "Teach them to write a proper sentence!" This kit will help - try the freebie pages and see!

Each job requires students to :

-Trace and read 4-6 words from the sentence (50 Sight Words covered, including number and color words)

-Cut, build, glue and read the sentence

-Print the sentence

-Use a checklist for:

capitalization,

punctuation,

reversed letters

and using finger spaces between words

-Peer edit to check their sentence and a partners'

-Illustrate to demonstrate understanding of the context

When marking their work, simply indicate which item on the checklist was completed incorrectly and let the students go find and correct the mistake themselves!

Sentences increase in difficulty as the program progresses.
