Description

This addition and math resource was created to give 1st and 2nd grade students practice with the concept of reading, writing, and adding number words for the purpose of determining if the sum of the numbers equals ten. Your kiddos will have so much fun reading single-digit (from 0 to 9) and double-digit (10) number words and adding them together in order to build sums of ten!

How It Works: Either whole class or within a small group setting, students are presented with matching tens task cards. For task cards #1-24, students work to determine which friend needs to be selected in order to make a sum of ten. Answers are recorded as a, b, c, or d. For task cards #25-36, students are given the opportunity to establish if a group of specific number words adds up to ten. Answer choices are then recorded as “y” for yes or “n” for no.
