Product/Materials Preface:
This English Language Arts unit resource comes with a 2 page introduction that includes a mini-lesson and sentence lead-ins to Making Text Connections. You can chart these resources or use them as handouts. Next we have two visual aid posters, and I also included a notes page. I also have a PowerPoint for sale: MakingTextConnectionsPowerPoint
I have provided Twenty-Eight (28) unique graphic organizers to help you students make all four of the major text connections: Text-to-Text, Text-to-Self, Text-to-World, and Text-to-Media.
Because of the many variations you can choose from a multitude of forms to help differentiate your instruction for ELL/ESL, Special Education, and low-performing students. You can also up the anti with more rigor for students who are exceeding standards. Clearly, you can now cater to your students’ needs by pairing students with the right organizer.
When introducing (or reintroducing) the comprehension strategy, you should use these organizers to focus on a particular book you are studying. It can be a class novel or your students’ independent reading books. You can also use the organizers for group work, 1-to-1 tutoring, guided reading, book clubs, and literature circles. You are only limited by your imagination.

Great product - love that I can provide a format for each student's needs.
Thank you. This is nice for a student to become more engaged in his/her reading.
Thank you!
great product!
Thanks Vanessa!
The graphic organizers were the same thing just presented in different formats.
Well of course. There are presented in different formats and thereby are differentiated. Some students cannot work on every type of text connection at the same time or at the sane pace. They need to focus on one aspect at a time. You gear the right form to the right student.
Very useful...common core aligned.
Thanks and enjoy!
Just as described ...perfect for my class!
Hope your students create some interesting responses!
very good!
Thank you... Enjoy for years to come!
This is great!!!!
Much appreciated -- check out the companion PowerPoint!
