Description

Need low prep, engaging math activities that will also make your math time easier to plan? Get students up and moving during your math block with these March math around the room tasks cards! These write the room centers are aligned to first grade standards covering 6 skills that include ordering numbers, comparing numbers, double digit addition and subtraction, non-standard measurement, and base ten blocks (all skills that are usually taught and/or reviewed in March).

These task cards can be used as a write the room center, a whole group "scoot" game, as a math station, or as independent task cards. They are the perfect resource for kinesthetic learners, as they get students up moving as they learn.

These March Math Around the Room activities are apart of a GROWING BUNDLE that will include over 40 skills that align to first grade CCSS. By grabbing the bundle NOW you will be getting it at a large discount. PLUS, they will significantly streamline your math planning because you have skills for each standard taught in first grade and you will not have to teach new centers because the structure of the cards will remain the same.

Why THIS resource?

  • DIFFERENTIATION - have students complete the first 12 cards with the corresponding recording sheet, or challenge students with an additional 6 cards using the 18 cards and corresponding recording sheet. PLUS, some of the skills use the additional 6 cards as CHALLENGE cards (ex adding in hundreds to the comparing numbers and base ten)
  • NON-SEASONAL OPTIONS - teach a skill outside of the month showcased here? Have students that need to review a topic? There is an option without the clipart so that you can use ANY of these task cards at ANYTIME in the year.
  • BUILD ROUTINE!! - students thrive in routine! Having a center/activity that remains the same all year, only the skill changes, not only decreases your prep time, but also builds independence and confidence within your students because they know what to expect.
  • ANSWER KEYS - there are answer keys provided for each center as well as the option to create a "CHECK IT STATION" for students to be able to check their own work. Either reduce your time grading with the addition of efficient answer keys or have students check their own and simply look over how they are doing on the skill.

  • 6 math around the room activities
  • skills covered - ordering numbers, comparing numbers, double digit addition and subtraction, non-standard measurement, and base ten blocks (as a review)
