Addition & Subtraction Word Problems (with Regrouping)

This resource helps students apply their addition and subtraction skills (with 3-digit numbers and regrouping) to word problems. It supports learners in solving single-step addition and subtraction word problems and justifying their solutions by showing their work.

Includes:

  • 5 different sorting activities
  • Each activity has 6 word problems: 3 for addition, 3 for subtraction

Directions:

  • Students will cut out the word problems, read each one, and decide whether to use multiplication or division to solve it.
  • After making their decision, students will glue each word problem into the correct gray box on the next page under either the multiplication or division heading.
  • Students will solve the problem in the white Work Space box next to each problem and be encouraged to show their work.

No prep needed – simply print and go

This resource offers a fun and engaging way for students to practice and strengthen their addition and subtraction skills with regrouping through word problems.
