This unit of story problems builds on our previous story problem units. The unit focuses on turning over more responsibility to the students and includes pre-multiplication and division concepts and adding/subtracting with decade numbers, in addition to previously learned addition and subtraction concepts.

Each journal page is designed so that students can work through the entire problem solving process:
-understanding the question
-planning/picture
-solving with a number sentence
-writing a labeled answer
-checking the answer on a number line
