Description
These weekly first grade homework packs can be printed out and sent home with your students on a Monday. 4 weeks worth of packs are included.
Each night students can work on one math page and one writing prompt. There is also a weekly reading log at the end of the pack, which includes a space for students to keep track of their reading over the weekend. (ELA – Literacy.RF.1.4a)
The packs follow a familiar structure each week so that students will become familiar with them quickly and be able to work on them independently.
The packs come with an editable version as well as a PDF. The editable version is written with Century Gothic.
Math
The math pages cover different standards, with an emphasis on Operations and Algebraic Thinking since that is so much of what first grade math is all about. There are spaces for students to write about how they solved a problem, and checklists to help guide them. There are also word problems with student work already included in it. Students will have to think critically to see if the sample work is correct or not.
Writing
The writing prompts aim to cover different writing standards, but the overall goal is for students to practice writing. The playful prompts will hopefully motivate all students. There is a space provided for them to draw a picture as well. Students are generally asked to give their opinions and explain their thinking about different topics (ELA – Literacy.W.1.1), as well as to explain how to do things step by step (ELA – Literacy.W.1.3).
At the bottom of each writing page there are mini checklists for students to use to make sure they are using capital letters, punctuation, etc. (ELA – Literacy.RF.1.2)
Every Friday there is a sight word search with words from the Dolch pre-primer, primer, and first grade word lists. (ELA – Literacy.RF.1.4)
These packs can be used as weekly classwork packs for students who finish their work early and need something to do independently.
