Description

Included in this purchase is a total of 8 pages. This file can be used as a hands-on introduction or application to both 2D and 3D shapes. The activity can be completed as a class or during small-group instruction/math centers. Students will use the task cards provided to build various 2D and 3D shapes. Next, students will complete the included handout that identifies the shapes' attributes. See below for the specifics that are included on each sheet!

Page 1: 3D shapes

Students will-
*Draw the shape

*Name the shape

*Provide the number of edges

*Provide the number of vertices

*Provide the number of faces

*SHAPES INCLUDED: rectangular prism, triangular prism, cube, tetrahedron, Square-based pyramid, Cuboid or rectangular prism

Page 2: 2D Shapes

Students will-
*Draw the shape

*Name the shape

*Provide the number of edges

*Provide the number of vertices

*Provide the number of right angles

*SHAPES INCLUDED: trapezoid, pentagon, rectangle, rhombus, square, triangle

Pages 3-6: Task Cards

*Included is 7 3D shapes and 7 2D shapes

Pages 7-8: Answer keys! (I've included information relevant to our standards, but understand other states may use different vocabulary. Please let me know if anything needs modified and I'd be more than happy to edit!) Note: the answer sheets do not include the "draw the shape" column."
