If you are studying Martin Luther King, Jr. in your classroom, this is a fun math activity to correspond with your unit study. It requires students to solve eleven math double-digit math addition problems without regrouping. After solving the math problems, students must use the "code" to decipher the mystery message. The mystery message says, "I have a dream." This is a perfect math activity to give kids during a unit study on Martin Luther King, Jr. Collect all the Math Mystery Message handouts by Krista Lynch.
