Description
Teaching the applications of friction on inclines can be hard. I attempt to make that much easier with this inquiry based guide. This guide is meant to foster meaningful discussion to talk about the physics of objects on an incline.
Students will learn/discuss:
- The role of Normal force as the angle of incline changes.
- How to use components to discuss friction on an incline.
- How to use the trig functions to solve for components.
- How to determine the acceleration of objects on an incline when considering friction.
This resource uses the concepts of trigonometry. If your students struggle with this, consider using my resource on trigonometry in physics

Why Inquiry?
Telling students what's right skips over the process where learning occurs. Allowing students to formulate questions and predictions is where learning happens. Learning is beyond memorization of facts and includes how to apply such facts to many scenarios. These products are designed to grant the student more involvement in their learning while the teacher guides the students in the proper direction.
