Description
Substitutions can bring on silent and missense mutations, but your mutation lessons don’t need to be nonsense! With this mutation activity your students will learn about the different point and chromosomal mutations and their effects on proteins. Everything from frameshift mutations to chromosomal inversions are discussed. Included in the activity are some practice mutations that your students can use to practice their identification skills. Additionally, diseases such as sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis are discussed.
To use this activity in your classroom, all you need to do is assign it through your school’s LMS and have it make a copy for each of your students. Then, all your students need to do is type or drag and drop their answers on the slides!
Time to Complete: 20 - 40 minutes
Topics Covered:
- Mutations
- Mutagens
- Point Mutations
