Matching Algebraic Expressions by Simplifying/Combining Like Terms Worksheet

Description

My students needed more practice with simplifying algebraic expressions. This is a one-page worksheet I created in which algebraic expressions are simplified by combining like terms and matching them to equivalent expressions. Students are to draw a symbol next to the expressions to show which expressions are equivalent. There are 18 expressions to be simplified and 9 simplified "answers", since there are two equivalent expressions for every simplified expression.

The distributive property is not used in the worksheet, nor are integers.

An answer key is provided on the second page.

No integers

Kids liked the code aspect of this assignment. We completed the bottom first and then solved the top and found the matches as we went along.
