UPDATE: A Google Forms option of the Math 6 Mid-Year assessment has been added to this resource. If you have already purchased this resource, please redownload for the update.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This study guide and first semester test (all multiple choice) accompanies the first four units of my Math 6 Curriculum. There are two versions of the study guide and test included. Version 1 contains operations with positive integers only; Version 2 contains operations with positive and negative integers. This is to accommodate those who do and do not teach operations with negative integers in sixth grade. Choose the version that best fits the needs of your students.
Topics Covered (please review to compare to your curriculum):
• Divisibility Rules
• Prime and Composite Numbers
• Prime Factorization
• Least Common Multiple (LCM)
• Greatest Common Factor (GCF)
• LCM and GCF Applications
• Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Fractions
• Adding and Subtracting Decimals
• Multiplying Decimals
• Dividing Decimals by Whole Numbers
• Dividing Decimals by Decimals
• Operations with Fractions and Decimals Applications

• Comparing and Ordering Fractions and Decimals
• Writing Integers
• Opposites of Integers
• Graphing Integers on a Number Line
• Absolute Value of Integers
• Comparing and Ordering Integers
• The Coordinate Plane
• Operations with Integers (*version 2 only)
• Integer Operations Applications (*version 2 only)
• Negative Rational Numbers
• Exponents
• Powers of 10
• Identifying Perfect Squares
• Order of Operations
• Evaluating Expressions
• Translating Expressions
• Parts of an Expression
• Simplifying Expressions by Combining Like Terms
• Simplifying Expressions using the Distributive Property
• Simplifying Expressions Completely (Distribute and Combine)
• Factoring Expressions (Numerical and Algebraic) using a GCF
• Equivalent Expressions
• Properties (Commutative, Associative, Distributive, Identity, Inverse, Property of Zero)
The study guide for both versions contains 100+ problems. Version 1 of the test contains 50 questions; version 2 of the test contains 60 questions.
Suggestions:
1) Assign sections of the study guide over the course of a couple weeks.
2) Consider allowing students to omit any 10 questions should you worry that the test length is too long.
NEW! An editable version of the tests are included so you can easily make multiple versions or customize to fit your needs! PowerPoint and Equation Editor (usually built in to PowerPoint) are required to edit this file. If your Equation Editor is incompatible with mine, simply delete my equation and insert your own.
