Description

This is part of a foolproof system for helping students develop fact fluency. It is research-based and developed on how the brain learns. This system is perfect for 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3 grade learners, as well as older children who are still working toward mastery.

When learning addition and subtraction facts, it's not in the child's best interest to be given all 200 facts at once. This set of 34 fact practice cards is the second in a series of 8 research-based addition and subtraction practice sets to build fact fluency. It practices the +10 fact families and includes assessments for this level.

Why use Fact Fluency Practice Activities and Assessments: Level Two +10 Fact Families? Brain Research tells us that connecting to prior knowledge helps students remember information. It also teaches us that brains remember best using color, movement, and visuals.

How it works: I've researched and developed a recommended order for teaching the facts. The key? Teach addition and subtraction fact families together, but with one concept at a time.

What's included: This set contains the second of 8 fact family concepts recommended for learning math facts: the plus ten families. (Example: 5+10=15, 10+5=15, 15-10=5, and 15-5=10) It includes assessments and study guides for that family as well.

Here are some things that teachers like you said about this system for Math Fact Fluency:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I purchased this product because of the flash cards. I love how they are color-coded and include an animal to easily match the fact families together. As a first-grade teacher, I have found it incredibly difficult to have 100% mastery (math facts) by the end of the year. I am super excited to incorporate these flashcards this school year. Total bonus having ALL the practice and assessment worksheets. TOTAL SCORE for me and my future. ”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I cannot tell you how much I love this resource! There are ways to master addition by color, by picture, by practice, etc. I laminated a couple of master sets of flashcards for kiddos to practice during independent math rotations. Now my kiddos look forward to their timed tests instead of dreading it”

️⭐️️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “This is a great product. It is great to hear laughter when my students get a brain break card while playing with the fact cards.

Relate counting to addition and subtraction (e.g., by counting on 2 to add 2).
Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
