Description
Have you seen Jenga being used in classrooms on social media, but don't know where to start? Looking for new engagement ideas to teach math? These math task cards are for you!
This resource includes 30 task cards for math foundations: building multiplication fluency and skills.
There are six questions for each COLOR! Task Card colors: green, blue, pink, yellow, ORANGE/RED, and purple.
**The orange questions and the red questions are the same! Just made for different Jenga or Connect-4 options!**
ANSWER KEY INCLUDED!
NO JENGA NEEDED! Use colorful dice or have students draw colorful tiles! Even though these task cards were created with Jenga in mind, they are great for any classroom with or without Jenga.
To play COLOR! Jenga:
Paint the ends of a Jenga set's blocks using the six COLOR! Jenga colors: green, blue, pink, yellow, orange/red, and purple OR purchase painted Lewo Blocks on Amazon.com.
Directions for student play:
1.Pick a person to pull the first block. This can be the person who built the tower or the person with the next birthday, or the person who most wants to start.
2.Remove a block. Carefully take one block out from any level of the tower except the top. Look for the block that is the loosest, or the easiest to remove, or that will least disturb the stability of the tower. You can push the block or pull the block, depending on the angle and the location in the stack. Remember: you can only touch the tower with one hand a time. This rule keeps players from holding the tower steady while they pull their blocks.
3.Look at the color on the block, flip your Jenga game task cards to that color and read the question aloud. Then EVERYONE PLAYING solves for the answer on scratch paper or a personal white board. Record your answer on your personal answer recording sheet.
4.Place the pulled block atop the tower. The player that pulled the block puts it back on top of the tower to continue the pattern of layering-by-threes. Try to stack them neatly so that the tower stays strong. As the game goes on, the tower will grow higher and higher until it teeters, unstable, and falls.
5.Play until the tower falls. Rebuild the tower to play again and again!
Great for any teacher grades 2-6!
