Hello everyone!
Over the past two years I have really been focusing on Math Workshop. I moved to a new school in a new state last year and they had completely changed over to the Math Workshop model. So, because of this, I made it a very big priority to research it, attend professional developments on it, and work on developing it in my own classroom.
So over the last two years I have tried many different ideas, thrown many ideas out, and refined many ideas.
This product is one of those ideas that I started, refined, refined some more, and am making the finishing touches on now. This is my first installment of what I finally feel like is a great product for my 2nd grade kiddos in math!
Math journal prompts are a great resource for math workshop. I use it at the end of each math workshop day as a reflection piece of the workshop. I give students enough time to answer the prompt, and then we have at least 2-3 minutes to discuss it.
These are also really easy to grade and keep data on to see what students are understanding it and which ones are not.
However the biggest reason i love math journal prompts is the fact that they help me see growth in my students. It is such a great tool for teachers as well as a great visual to use at conferences.
