Description

You will need to purchase the Eureka Animal Counters you can find them on Amazon.com for $10.99 for 100 counters. It’s a pretty good deal considering how expensive counting manipulatives seem to be these days. I use them in the math center, four students at a time. I make 4 copies of each of the math mat graphing pages. I like to use card stock, or put them in a sheet protector. I give each child a small bowl full of the counters and ask them to sort them by: color or animal, then count how many in each row. Later in the year I have them record their answers by writing the numbers on the recording sheet. This is a great activity to use for assessments.
