Description

Around and Around is a hands on math activity I created for my students in order to give them practice on calculating the perimeter of quadrilaterals. Students are given an assortment of 10 objects. Using a ruler, they must measure the length of all four sides of each object, and then add the sides together to calculate the perimeter of each object. This activity can be used as a center activity or completed with the whole class with the students working in groups or teams. This activity was designed for 3rd graders but will work well with many other grade levels. It meets the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for 3rd grade math. Included with this worksheet are teacher instructions for how to best utilize this activity.
