Description

This Math Menu of Solving Two Step Algebraic Equations folds into a booklet and offers student choice in choosing the questions they will complete. The Menu Sections are as follows: Beverage (6 multiple choice to choose from), Appetizer (4 show your work questions to choose from), Main Course (4 word problems to choose from), and Dessert (4 True or False to choose from)! Students will complete the amount stated in each section. For example, the “Dessert” section states to complete 4 questions out of the 5 provided.

Student choice gives students a sense of ownership and responsibility for the questions they are choosing and they will tend to choose questions based on their level of understanding, which also makes it an easy differentiation tool and easy grading for the teacher.

What’s included:

•Menu Cover Page (Optional to use)

•Full Color Option

•Answer Key

How to print as a book:

I suggest printing the cover page separate (or you can choose to not have a cover page). Print the Menu sections using the double-sided option. Be sure to select the option to flip page along “shorter edge side” since the menu is in landscape. Once printed, place menu inside of cover sheet and staple along the in-seam to hold together.

How to use this Assignment:

•Bulletin Board

•Homework

•Review Assignment

•Classwork Assignment

•Class Portfolio

•Differentiate among leveled learners- ex. Change the number of questions required for your student needs or have some students complete ALL.

If you want more Math Menu Assignments, try the following:

Math Menu: Simplifying Algebraic Expressions

Math Menu: Solving One Step Equations

Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Solve word problems leading to equations of the form 𝘱𝘹 + 𝘲 = 𝘳 and 𝘱(𝘹 + 𝘲) = 𝘳, where 𝘱, 𝘲, and 𝘳 are specific rational numbers. Solve equations of these forms fluently. Compare an algebraic solution to an arithmetic solution, identifying the sequence of the operations used in each approach. For example, the perimeter of a rectangle is 54 cm. Its length is 6 cm. What is its width?
Solve linear equations in one variable.
