Math Problem Solving Strategies Jigsaw
Share

Description

This jigsaw is great introductory activity for a word problem solving unit. Students are placed into groups and assigned one strategy they are to become the 'teachers' of. Then, they teach each other through presentations, while I facilitate note taking by completing the same word problem using all strategies (see page 2 of the product). Students are encouraged to use the strategies learned and practice in this jigsaw activities throughout the year as we practice word problems in all our units. They also get to work on presentation and note taking skills. For any grade level (NWEA, P/SAT), this serves as great test prep, as word problems are a large portion of the math sections of these assessments.

Note(s):

**The first page of resources I post on Google Classroom, and direct students to the handout, telling them to look only the resources assigned to them.

**The second two pages are done on presentation day, and are printed out for students.
