Get students moving with SCOOT!

SCOOT is a No Prep Math review game where students move from desk to desk answering questions printed on task cards. There are 4 ways to play and keep score, including UNFAIR SCOOT!

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Print and cut out the task cards with questions.
2. Print an ANSWER RECORDING SHEET for each student.
3. Place each card on a different desk.
4. Instruct the students “START” and they answer the question on their desk and record it. Question #s must match Answer #s on the sheet.
5. Have the students stand behind the desk when done. Once complete, say “SCOOT”.
6. Students rotate to the next desk and answer that question and record it.
7. Once all 25 rounds are complete, review and score the student answers.

4 WAYS TO SCORE:

CLASSIC SCOOT: Each correct answer is worth 1 point.

DOUBLE OR NOTHING: The first correct answer in a row is worth 1 point, and each correct answer after is worth double (1,2,4,8,16,32…). Restart after each wrong answer, add up the totals.

PLACE YOUR BETS: Before starting, have the students write down their bet for each answer in the scoring box, from 1-4 points. If correct, they get that score, if wrong, deduct that score. Add up the total.

UNFAIR SCOOT: Use the UNFAIR SCOOT SCORING PowerPoint (works in Google Slides) file. Use the file to determine the points for each round during the game. Once students reach their new desk, have one of them choose a letter, tap it, and reveal the score for that round. Students write it in the scoring box and then add up the correct scores using these values. (There are 4 versions included so students don’t figure it out).

The PowerPoint files will run in Google slides and will run on:

• iPads that run PowerPoint and Google Slides (free apps)
• Smartboards
• Projectors
• Desktops
• Laptops
• Any device that runs PowerPoint or Google Slides

No additional licenses required for the students in your class!

All questions and answers use text and mathematical notation (formulas), and there are no diagrams, charts, graphics or visual aids.

How to UNZIP Files:

1. Right-click the ZIP file.
2. Click Extract All.
3. Choose where you want the files saved.
4. Click Extract.
5. Open the new folder to access the files.

All of the images and colors are included just as you see it. Each user needs to purchase their own license, and the files may not be shared or sold to anyone, but you are free to make as many versions as you like for your own use.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• This game runs on PowerPoint, and will also run on Google Slides
• A very small number of schools disable the animations and hyperlinks in their PowerPoint.
• The solution to this is to use a different device, such as a laptop or tablet that runs PowerPoint.
