Math String Art

Description

My name is Mr. Poole. This math lesson revolves around aestheometry, the art of making straight lines appear as if they curve. In this lesson, students use a ruler, compass, pencils, and card stock to create a unique design using a needle and thread. This lesson is highly engaging, allowing students to gain experience with rulers, compasses, and challenges them to follow a detailed set of instructions. My students really look forward to it every year. In this lesson I include step by step instructions, as well as two youtube videos that allow students to view the steps as I perform them. I also included a photo of a final project (both front and back). Hope you enjoy this as much as I do. It is one of my favorite activities to do with my students.
