Math Talks | Google slides

  • Real-life images that help students to see and think about mathematical concepts in everyday life.

Open-ended prompts allow for students of all mathematical abilities to contribute and challenge themselves. This resource can be used with Kindergarten when asking simple questions like "what do you notice?" to Grade 3 where students incorporate more strategies and math vocabulary in their reasoning.

A great way to use this resource is at the beginning of a math lesson as a 10-minute warm-up. Show students the image, allow for think time, and encourage students to share their thinking by using multiple strategies, offer sentence starters, and use math vocabulary.

*This resource also includes subitizing dots for Number Talks
