Math Test Review/Prep Problems/Starters Grade 5 - 10
Share

Description

This Playlist of short videos are taken from released State End of the Year assessments for Grades 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. These problems check for understanding relative to what every student should know and be able to do. Each video is ONE question from a Common Core Aligned State Assessment. Each question is read and a modeled exemplar solution follows. Studies are showing that video instruction provides a more engaging sensory experience than print resources, an increase of knowledge retention, and allows teachers to facilitate learning rather than lecture. Students are demonstrating more efficient processing of material and can revisit or replay videos as needed.

Download and use the attached spreadsheet that you may make a copy for yourself to sort by grade or standard. Consider videos for independent work, test review, formative or summative, stations/centers, or guided homework. Students receive immediate feedback. Embed in Edpuzzle, Nearpod or another video learning platform.

Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Use operations on fractions for this grade to solve problems involving information presented in line plots. For example, given different measurements of liquid in identical beakers, find the amount of liquid each beaker would contain if the total amount in all the beakers were redistributed equally.
