Vocabulary quiz to get your 4th graders speaking like 4th graders and feeling confident in their math!
When you get into the higher grade levels, vocabulary is lacking. I know I am guilty of using a more simple vocabulary to get my point across and to make a lessons run smoothly. I started having my kids review vocabulary they might see in a basic word problem. The next step was that I needed to hold them accountable for their practice to ensure they could apply it. I started with the following words when I realized that my kids had no idea what I was asking of them when I asked, "What is the product of the following numbers?"
-sum -product
-tenths -operation
-quotient -difference
-hundreths
