Description
Word problems are a big part of any Math standardized test our students take. Be it on PARCC or NWEA, this is an area where students often struggle greatly. A method aimed at helping students master word problems is called the Three Reads strategy. It is essentially a close read that allows students to focus on something specific each time they read the word problem. I did not create the method, but I noticed that there was little in the form of useful graphic organizers. I created this form in order to make that method more useful to me. This can be used on any type of word problem and for any grade level.

This was my first time teaching the three reads strategy to solve story problems. I loved this graphic organizer and having this as a resource helped to make the transition easier.
Great resource to help students to decompose a word problem using this protocol. Thanks so much.
This helped to break down multi step word problems.
Excellent for distance learning
