Description

Looking for practice with evaluating word problems? Here it is! This resource helps students break down word problems and think deeply about how to accurately solve. Students must annotate each problem using the CUBES (Circle, Underline, Box, Eliminate, Solve) method. They then have to identify what operation they will use and write the equation they will use to solve the problem. Students have a work space given and they are required to show work or explain the process that they use to solve the problem. This allows for the teacher to quickly see errors and understand what the student’s solving-process is when helping correct misconceptions. Having students write a full sentence in the final answer box helps them think about their answer again in the context of the problem and is a helpful check-tool.

The word problems increase in difficulty by moving from addition and subtraction to multiplication and going from one-step to two-step problems.

The resource includes:

-4 pre-teach practice problems

-74 word problems (2 per week, for 37 weeks of school)

-Answer key
