This is a set of 10 math journal prompts that are aligned to the 5 major strands of the Common Core Curriculum. Most are geared toward 6th and 7th grade, but can also be used as a refresher in 8th grade as well.

These can be used as a pre-assessment, an exit ticket/formative assessment, or even a warm-up. Many times I will include a question like these on a test to have them justify their reasoning on a particular concept.

The prompts are listed in two ways; listed by strand as well as on reproducible sheets that are 2 to a page for easy printing!
