Included: 8 Lessons and 9 complementary centers.
This unit is the perfect way to introduce and review collecting and organizing data and graphs to your firsties. Spaced out over 8 lessons, this unit gives plenty of practice and review for those important skills. The unit is November/Thanksgiving/Fall Themed.
Included are 8 Lessons with whole group and small group ideas:
Lesson 1: Compare Amounts
Lesson 2: Picture graphs
Lesson 3: Picture graphs, part 2.
Lesson 4: Making picture graphs
Lesson 5: Using a Key with picture graphs
Lesson 6: Bar Graphs, Part 1
Lesson 7: Bar Graphs, Part 2
Lesson 8: Tooty Frooty Graphing
Each lesson comes with a lesson page with whole group and small group ideas, exit tickets, and homework page. The lesson activities involve a lot of hands on work.
Each day begin by asking the class a question and collecting data. Each Graph of the Day includes Graph labels, title, and pictures. The materials needed are basic math manipulatives like unifex cubes and counters.
Lesson plans are provided with suggestions on how to teach the skills as well as ideas and resources for small group activities
