Matrices Bundle: 7 puzzle worksheets

This bundle now has 7 puzzle worksheets. Two worksheets are multiplying matrices, and one worksheet each for finding determinants of 2x2 and 3x3 matrices, finding area of a triangle using determinants, finding x, y or z using Cramer's rule, finding inverses of 2x2 matrices and the last worksheet is decoding. Once the worksheets are completed, the answer to a riddle is revealed.

Multiplication of Matrices 1

This self checking worksheet features matrices which are begging to be multiplied. There are 8 problems using different size matrices. To prevent the students from working through the problems quickly by calculating the size of the solutions and matching it up with the given solutions, the teacher could withhold the solution page until the work is finished.

Multiplication of Matrices 2

This self checking worksheet features many different sizes of matrix multiplication. The two matrices and the solution are given for each problem. The catch is there is exactly one element missing from the solution. The student must figure out which row and column to use to find the missing element. Only students who are practiced in matrix multiplication will succeed at this worksheet.

Determinants of 2x2 and 3x3

This self checking worksheet features 2x2 matrices and 3x3 matrices. The student is asked to find the determinant of each.

Finding area of a triangle using Determinants

This self checking worksheet gives 3 ordered pairs. the student is to find the area of the triangle made by connecting the points.

Cramer’s Rule 3x3

This self checking worksheet has 3 equations and 3 unknowns for each problem. The student is asked to find one of the unknowns.

Inverses of 2x2

This self checking worksheet has ten 2x2 matrices. The student is given three choices per problem and asked to pick the correct inverse. The solution is written with the 1/determinant in front of the matrix. All of the choices are good choices, so the student must work out the problem to select the correct answer.

Solving Coding Problems Using Inverse Matrices

This self checking worksheet uses a 3x3 matrix and a coded series of 3x1 matrices to decode a riddle. I've provided the work on the solution page. I would DEFINITELY have the students turn in their work with this worksheet for credit.
