Description
Engage students with this STEMersion activity designed for Algebra 2, where they find matrix inverses in a real world cryptology scenario, available in both PDF and digital Google versions. Students build higher order thinking as they analyze systems, evaluate transformations, and make evidence-based decisions using matrix operations.
STEM-ersion assignments aim to immerse students in an authentic application within a STEM career. This STEM-ersion focuses on matrix inverses. Students often ask what careers will use certain math skills and I think this is an opportunity to show them where the thinking is used! These problems aim to help students construct responses with my Evidence - Analysis - Conclusion framework that I use in all of my classes.
These questions are carefully crafted not to have one correct answer, but to require students to analyze situations and make decisions that they think are the best -- just let you would in the real world.
