What is matter? The dictionary says it is "that which has mass and occupies space;
an atom is the smallest indivisible unit of matter." If that is the case, then matter matters! Matter is everywhere, except in a vacuum. Matter is everything. Chemistry is the study of matter and how it changes and interacts with other matter. It has four states—which you already know. Learn more about the chemistry that makes up our world.
