Perfect for small group intervention, whole group instruction, or math centers, this game includes multiple rounds so students can enjoy it again & again!

Note: this game includes fractions, decimals, & remainders (8 ft. 2 in., 2-½ tons, 2.4 kg).  Looking for a game with only whole numbers? Here’s a game for that! Converting Measurements Game with Whole Number Units

This product includes:

⇒10 Game Mats

⇒10 Unique Rounds of 8 Cards (80 total cards)

⇒Teacher Implementation Guide

⇒Answer Key

Each student receives a game mat and 8 measurement cards. 10 different rounds cover a mix of metric or customary units of length, weight, and capacity. For example in Round 1, all the cards have distances measured in inches and the mat has distance measured in feet. In other rounds students will be converting from a small unit to a big unit. The conversion rate is given at the corner of each game mat.

The conversions in this game include fractions, decimals and remainders such as 2-1/2 pounds, 4.5 kg, and 8 ft. 2 in.

This game is great for a whole group activity but can also be used for a math center, partner game, or take-home activity.

For the first 6 rounds of this game, cards and mats will have the same unit. For example, in Round A the mat is in feet and the cards are in inches. For the final 4 rounds of the game, the units on the cards and mat are mixed together. For example, in Round H students are converting from tons to pounds but the cards and mat have pounds and tons all jumbled together. This makes it slightly more challenging.

This game is designed for 5th grade as it aligns perfectly to 5.MD.1, but could also be used as a review game for 6th or 7th grade or a challenge.

This resource completely met the standards. It took practice for the students to be successful, but it really gave them practice converting.
