Measurement Science Learning Stations

Description

This zip file contains assignments to be done in a measurement unit. Students are in learning stations and rotate through the stations through a couple class periods. The following assignments are based on my previous station set up. This zip file includes the following stations:
- Organization station- Metric Measurement Concept Map- This assignment has the students using their previos notes over measurements and turning into a concept map that includes; type of measurement, apparatus and measurement unit.
-Visualization Station- Ruler Art- Using a metric ruler the students follow the step by step directions and create an art project that is based on their ability to measure length.
-Investigation Station 1- Measurement Tasks- The students are given task card that have them go through the different types of measurements used in the science classroom. Students are to follow directions on the task cards and record their findings on the task sheet. Teacher must prep with a triple beam balance, graduated cylinder, metric ruler, small boxes, marbles and water.
-Corresponding station- Temperature writing prompts- Students can pick one of the writing prompts to write a letter to the teacher about temperature.
-Investigation Statoin 2- Finding Mass- Students are to find the mass of several objects using a triple beam balance. On their observation sheet students are to break down the measuring mass process by writing down the 100s rider, 10s rider and 1s rider and then coming up with the mass of the object.
