Measurement Task Cards are a great resource for estimating and measuring U.S. Customary and metric units of length, weight/mass, and liquid volume. This resource includes 28 task cards, a student response worksheet, and an answer key. Questions are open-ended and multiple choice.

What will students review with these task cards?

With these Measurement Task Cards, students will:

• Estimate and measure U.S. Customary and metric units of length to the nearest ½ inch, inch, foot, yard, centimeter, and meter
• Estimate and measure U.S. Customary and metric units of weight/mass to the nearest pound and kilogram
• Estimate U.S. Customary and metric units of liquid volume to the nearest cup, pint, quart, and liter.
• Justify whether an estimate or an exact measurement is needed for a contextual situation.
• Compare estimates of length, weight/mass, or liquid volume with the actual measurements. 

What standards are covered?

These Measurement Task Cards are specifically aligned to the Virginia Math SOLs 3.MG.1 although they closely align to most math standards related to measurement.

Is a digital version included?

This Measurement Task Cards resource includes BOTH a digital version and a PDF version. The digital version can be accessed through Google Forms and allows students to easily self-check their work. You can also use the Google Forms task cards to track student progress.

What if I want to create my own math task cards?

Four blank task cards are included so that you can create additional questions, if needed. For these task cards, you will print the blank cards and write your questions directly on the cards.

I recommend printing these task cards in color and laminating so that they can easily be reused from year to year, although this is not necessary. These task cards also print and are easy to read in grayscale.
