Description
Use this Smartboard sorting activity as a whole group lesson on measurement attributes and measurement tools. The first activity matches the measurement attribute (length, capacity, volume, etc) to its definition. Then, students will fill in a table with the appropriate measurement tool that would be used to measure a certain attribute of an object. Finally, students will sort the pictures of the measurement tool to the correct attribute. A fun, whole-group formative assessment to do after teaching a few lessons on measurement! I based this lesson on VA SOL 2.11 The student will estimate and measure
a) length to the nearest centimeter and inch;
b) weight/mass of objects in pounds/ounces and kilograms/grams, using a scale; and
c) liquid volume in cups, pints, quarts, gallons, and liters.
Enjoy!
