Description

These Measurement Word Problems Worksheets and Activities will help you teach those tricky word problems involving measurement and length. This resource perfectly follows the measurement word problems standards for 2nd grade.

Everything you need to teach length word problems is here in this resource from direct instruction, to guided practice, to independent practice, to assessment, to center activities.

This word problems with measurement resource gives students scaffolded practice - helping them master solving measurement word problems quickly and effectively.

Included are 3 lessons covering measurement word problems. Here are the topics of those lessons:

  1. Add & Subtract with Measurements
  2. Find Unknown Measurements
  3. Use a Number Line to Solve Measurement Word Problems

Here’s what’s included in each of these lessons:

  • Display Pages: These are the landscape pages. Use these to introduce the “I can” statement and to teach the skills. These are perfect for direct instruction and provide a very visual learning experience for students. Simply model solving the measurement word problems or have students help you.

  • Measurement Word Problems Worksheets: Print these off for students. Do a couple problems together and have students do the rest by themselves. Great for low-prep guided practice and independent practice!

  • Scoot Activity & Task Cards: Print these on cardstock and cut the task cards apart. Tape the problems up around your classroom. Print the recording sheet for students. Students go around and solve the measurement word problems. They write their answers on the recording page. These get students up out of their seats and moving - making your lessons more engaging!

  • Puzzle Activity: Print these off and cut apart. Students line up the measurement word problems to their matching equations and part-part-whole diagrams. I like to have students work with a partner. This gives them support as they do these fun, hands-on measurement word problem activities!

  • Exit Tickets: Use these to quickly assess how students can solve word problems with measurement. There are 3 different versions so that students can have a different ticket than the student sitting next to them. There is even a section where students self-reflect on how they understood the lesson. Use these during an observation and get high marks!

  • Answer Keys: Use the answer keys so that students can check their own work – saving you valuable prep time! Plus, students get immediate feedback.

I hope you enjoy this Measurement Word Problems resource! Everything you need to effectively teach word problems involving measurement will be all in one place, at your fingertips!
