Description
I use this handout to introduce students to the metric system. We fill in the blanks together and then they can use this handout as their notes. Can be used for ICP (9th and 10th grade) or middle school.
Sections include:
- units students are used to seeing (for example we use gallons to measure liquid and feet to measure distance)
- metric system units
- prefixes for kilo, centi, and milli
- important conversions for both the metric system and English system
- abbreviations for ounces, pounds, meters, kilograms, etc
This is not an all inclusive worksheet/handout for the metric system, but it is a good introduction and gives students a chance to have input on what to fill in the blanks with (requires them to use prior knowledge).
