I love beginning every math lesson with mental math warm-ups. I believe that students need to have plenty opportunities to use mental math in the classroom since it is a crucial skill to have in the real world. It is also important to have discussion with students about real life examples of when they might have to use mental math.
These cards can be used as a daily math lesson warm-up. They can also be used as a math center. Cut out the cards and clip them onto a binder ring. Students can use the task card recording sheet that is attached in this file to practice using mental math skills.
Included are 12 mental math task cards. Also included are blank task cards. As an extension activity, students can create their own mental math puzzles
