Description
This 1 day lesson introduces conversion between metric units, gives your students a handy nemonic as a tool, and provides ample practice problems. The following metric prefixes are used: kilo, hecto, deca, deci, centi, and milli in addition to the base unit.
The files are PowerPoint 2007 and PDFs in a zip file. The PowerPoint slides are compatible with Windows 7/Power Point 2007 or later. Please read the unit overview first (PDF file included). The PowerPoint slides and worksheets are broken down by subject/day to help with flexibility in teaching. Packet is appropriate for 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, and homeschool students.
Metric Conversion
8 PowerPoint slides
2 page worksheet
2 page answer key
Each PowerPoint slide set starts with a bell question to activate learning and ends with an exit question to quickly assess students. The slides correspond directly to the worksheets, and the information that needs to be written down is underlined on the slides. Slides are designed so that all the information does not appear at once and continues by clicking through the program at the appropriate pace. The labs have corresponding procedure slides.
While this curriculum is designed to be turn-key with minimal changes, please keep in mind that all schools are different regarding standards focus, class-period time, etc. If you have questions, concerns, or catch a typo (hopefully not!), please feel free to contact us at thescienceshoppe@gmail.com. Also, please take a moment to review this curriculum after use. We hope you find this useful in your classroom! Thank you!
