Description

Duration: 11:30 + 4:30

Quality: 1080p

Metric conversions can be challenging for many students. I use the "Stairstep" method with my middle school students, with great success.

I am offering these videos as a tool to use in conjunction with my Metric Conversions for Mere Mortals stairstep how-to student handout, and my Metric Conversion Practice Worksheet, which are available as a stand-alone product in my store. You can also purchase all three (video, stairstep student handout, practice sheet), PLUS a short conversion quiz in a discounted bundle.

The first video is 11:30 long, and covers information such as what makes the metric system easier than the US Standard, why I feel the stairstep method is the best method for metric conversions, and finishes up with a step-by-step walkthrough of how to use the metric stairstep.

The second video is 4:30 long, and includes 5 example problems for students to attempt. The video then walks through the 5 problems, step-by-step.

These are excellent supplemental tools to help students master this skill.

I've included a downloadable version of the video. Feel free to share it privately with your students, such as on Google Classroom, but please do not post it where it is publicly accessible on the web.

This helped my students understand metric conversions! It was an excellent secondary resource outside of my teaching! Thank you!

I believe this video will aid in student understanding. My students like entertainment, therefore, this should grab their attention. Thanks! I could not have done better myself. Nevertheless, they are being entertained.

I bought this video for myself and three colleagues, and do not know how to download the video to share it with them. Where are the printable handouts: Metric Stairstep Handout, Metric Conversion Worksheet?

The metric stairstep and worksheet are available as separate products in my store. The videos used to be downloadable, but under TPT's new video model, they're streaming. I found a blurb in the "help" section of the website that explains the downloading issue: "Why can’t I download my video? Video on TpT is streaming. That means you don’t have to download a large video file in order to view a video. As long as you have an account and are able to access TpT, you’ll be able to watch your video anywhere."
