Description

Welcome to my Grocery Store Economics project in Excel. This is such a fun project. Students will build 3 spreadsheets to keep track of the prices of 5 different common foods sold at 3 different grocery stores for 5 weeks. They will use the websites for each grocery store to record the regular price of each food and the sale price weekly if that food goes on special during this 5 week time frame. Formulas will show how much money the students would spend and save at each grocery store. At the end of the 5 weeks, students will see which grocery store would've saved them the most money if they had bought all 5 food items each week for 5 weeks.

Computer skills taught in this unit include cells, cell addresses, rows, columns, merge and center, borders and addition and subtraction formulas. Students will also learn how to navigate 3 different company websites. My curriculum includes step by step, easy to follow lesson plans, a parent letter, price research sheets and a sample of the finished project. No previous computer experience is required.

My students really enjoyed this project. I also heard from a lot of moms who appreciated me showing their kids exactly how much money it takes to feed them every week. They also appreciated knowing which grocery store was the best bargain. Please consider buying my curriculum. Your students and their parents will thank you for it. Happy shopping!!
