This resource includes 15 different teacher-created Common Core Middle East Document Based Question (DBQs) files that contain over 120 questions that reference primary and secondary sources such as political cartoons, graphs, tables, pictures, and excerpts of informational texts. These resources help students to become more critical readers of informational texts and resources and teachers students to evaluate resources for information. Each DBQ has the Literacy Standards for Writing in History/Social Studies Common Core alignment next to it so that you will be able to help students make connections between social studies and their literacy standards. The zipped folder includes 15 files that explore critical Middle East elements including:

Sunnis and Shias Part 1 and Part 2
Middle East Tariffs, Sanctions, Embargos, and OPEC
Middle East Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
Middle East Governments
Middle East Oil and Economics
Middle East Water Pollution and Distribution of Water
Israel and Palestine Feud
Middle East Poverty and Literacy Rate
Middle East War in Iraq
Middle East War in Afghanistan
Middle East Water and Population
Middle East Zionism
Middle East Judaism, Islam, and Christianity

I have to differentiate for my special education students since some of the questions are at a higher level. I scaffold the questions I make with the ones provided. Maps, graphs and charts are my main purpose of using this document and there are many to choose from on each topic.
